Web Design: Wordpress

America's Fish started with Wordpress in the days after Denver's oldest newspaper,  the Rocky Mountain News closed, and the web-publishing platform was just beginning to break out of its blog software trappings. It provided an easy-to-launch, easy-to-manage interface that were essential to getting a website online fast at a time when things were swirling around a group of journalists uncertain of what to do next.

Iwantmyrocky.com, started in December 2008 to try to save the newspaper, was launched in Wordpress on a Sunday afternoon, one day after it was conceived by a group of journalists on a Saturday morning. Immediately after the newspaper's closure, America's Fish launched InsideTheRockies.com, ColoradoSoccerNow.com, RockyMountainIndepenent.com and DrewLitton.com among several others using Wordpress.

Since then, we have recommended Wordpress to corporate and startup clients with very basic needs. Wordpress is more blog software — it's a publishing platform that allows a client to take over management of a site once it's launched. The software is powerful enough to run an entire blog network or news site but flexibile enough to run a small business website. With a user-friendly interface that's easy for even a novice to quickly learn, Wordpress is an ideal solution for a budget-conscious small business that wants to get a quality identity on the web but cannot afford the ongoing management of a site that comes with traditional development.

America's Fish continues to manage InsideTheRockies.com in Wordpress and Denver area small business clients include WasteFarmers.com, Inner-VisionDesign.com and MSCenterGuild.org. We can help you get your site up and running and train you to take over from there or manage it on ongoing, cost-efficient basis.
