What we're working on at America's Fish

America's Fish has completed a new site for the TEN|10 Group — Inner-VisionDesign.com for Evergreen, Colo.-based interior designer Dawn Huckaby — and is putting the finishing touches on two more. Our biggest project, a Wyoming historical encyclopedia for a history buff and former journalist, is just beginning.

Denver Post focuses on wrong problems

Fri, 07/09/2010 - 9:48am | 0

The Denver Post is threatening organizations like ColoradoPols.com that make news interesting. Maybe that's not as good a strategy for the Post as actually making its own news more interesting.

Pixar brings Toy Story to proper close

Mon, 06/21/2010 - 11:37am | 0

Toy Story 3 does what the third (and should have been final) installments of the Godfather and Star Wars trilogies couldn't: it put a proper bookend on a longer story. This presumably final visit with the toys that launched Pixar as a feature-film company in 1995 is not quite as good as the first two movies as a caper, but it is the most emotional of the three movies.

America's Fish: Now with more Drupal

Sun, 06/13/2010 - 7:35pm | 0

When I started, I tried to form a comparison in my mind to baseball. (It all comes down to baseball for us here at America's Fish.) Drupal was maybe the Yankees and Wordpress the Red Sox. But I'm even less fond of the Red Sox than I am of the Yankees, so that wasn't going to work, and it didn't seem to fit anyway because in the end, these are both systems that are designed for the people, open-source, the opposite of the big-spending, empirical American League East powerhouses. So I'll try this: Drupal is the Phillies or the Dodgers, maybe the Angels; Wordpress is the Twins. You think you might know which team has the better record and is the better team, but chances are you're wrong.

The end of another Rocky era

Mon, 04/19/2010 - 2:46pm | 0

When a group of Rocky Mountain News staffers launched IWantMyRocky.com in late 2008 to try to save the newspaper, we did so fully understanding that it was likely a lost cause. There were many good reasons (and some bad ones) to do what we did, and foremost for nearly everyone was to simply not go quietly. But when we launched it, we also considered it a likely launching pad for new projects should the newspaper close.

Three Aprils so similar, yet so different

Thu, 04/15/2010 - 2:15pm | 0

Each April the past three years, I have been without steady, secure employment, without an office and wondering just how much longer I have health insurance. But in all three years the outlook has been different.

10 things you might not know about the Rockies

Thu, 04/15/2010 - 1:35pm | 0

Short piece I wrote for the TEN|10 Group's 10 Spot digging through the Colorado Rockies media guide and my own memory for things some fans don't know about their Colorado Rockies.

Quickie wiping-the-dust-off-the-Netflix movie reviews

Thu, 04/08/2010 - 9:24pm | 0

With Life taking up the usual Netflix-watching time on Sundays, we let two movies sit far too long, In the Loop and Wendy & Lucy.
